Appleton concentrated on the Double D and Kelsch zones in late 2007, digging 8 excavator trenches: five in the Double D Zone and three in the Kelsch Zone. None of the three trenches in the Kelsch zone were able to reach bedrock. Bedrock exposure ranged from 45% to 86% in the 5 Double D zone trenches.
Bedrock consisted of weakly to strongly bleached, oxidized and silicified volcaniclastics. Local quartz pods and veinlets were encountered. All samples consist of 1 metre continuous bedrock chips.
Trench FM-07-04 was 14 metres long, with 64% of the trench exposing bedrock. Gold values ranged from 15 ppb Au to 0.675 gpt Au. A continuous 4 metre interval averaged 0.400 gpt Au. Additional 1 metre intervals returned values of 0.250gpt Au and 0.305 gpt Au.
Trench FM-07-06 was 14 metres long, with 86% of the trench exposing bedrock. Gold values ranged from 5 ppb Au to 0.810 gpt Au. A continuous 5 metre interval averaged 0.460 gpt Au.
Trench FM-07-03 was 13 metres long with 62% of the trench exposing bedrock. Gold values ranged from 15 ppb Au to 0.195 gpt Au.
Gold values in the remaining two trenches ranged from 5 to 95 ppb Au. |
