Appleton Explorations Spences Bridge Key Projects

Appleton’s key British Columbia project is the Spences Bridge Gold Belt in south-central British Columbia. Appleton holds just over 74,000 hectares in the Spences Bridge Gold Belt. The Company owns 100% interest, subject to a 1.5% NSR royalty, in the Dora, Clapperton, Spence, McKay and Stobart properties.  The Company has an option to acquire a 100% interest, subject to a 2.5% NSR royalty in the Fame property.

Appleton completed an initial assessment of all properties in 2006, obtaining gold-in-soil anomalies of varying size and intensity on each property. Exploration in 2007 concentrated on the properties with the strongest anomalies: Dora, Stobart and Fame, with smaller programs completed on the Clapperton, Spence and McKay properties.

On the Dora property, 2000 metre by 1800 metre soil grid totaling 3,196 samples was successful in outlining 6 strong, cross-cutting, linear gold-in-soil anomalies. Continuous one metre channel soil sampling over the gold highs within the these anomalies was successful in identifying multi-metre intervals of plus 100 ppb gold-in-soil values in eight of the 25 soil trenches. 554 metres of excavator trenching was completed over sections of three of the anomalies. Bedrock chip sampling values of 0.919 gpt Au over 6 metres and 0.512 gpt Au over 5 metres were obtained. Diamond drilling is now planned for 2008.

The Hamm grid on the Stobart property consisted of 726 soil samples on a 50 metre by 100 metre grid. Two distinct linear gold-in-soil anomalies were defined. Mapping and sampling located two parallel, 1 to 2 metre wide quartz veins. Values from the previously known Hamm vein ranged from 5 ppb to 1.48 gpt Au and values from the newly discovered Rob vein ranged from 0.88 to 1.18 gpt Au.

Small soil grids were completed over the Double D and Kelsch showings on the Fame property. Eight excavator trenches were completed. None of the three trenches on the Kelsch showing reached bedrock. Bedrock chip sampling included values of 0.460 gpt Au over 5 metres and 0.400 gpt Au over 4 metres in the Double D zone trenches.

The Spences Bridge Gold Belt is a northwest trending belt of Cretaceous volcanics of island arc affinity, stretching from Princeton northwestward to Lillooet with smaller outliers continuing further northwestward to Gang Ranch. The low-sulphidation epithermal precious metal potential of this belt of rocks was unrecognized until the early 2000’s when exploration began in earnest.

Aside from the Appleton properties, other key projects in the Belt include Strongbow Explorations Inc. Skoonka Creek and Shovelnose projects; Consolidated Spire Ventures Ltd. Prospect Valley project and Almaden Minerals Ltd. Ponderosa, Merit and Nicoamen River projects. Information on these projects can be found on the websites of the respective companies. Consolidated Spire has recently announced the geological potential of its Prospect Valley property could be 1.2 to 81 million tonnes containing a possible 310,000 to 3,700,000 ounces of gold, attesting to the potential size of deposits within the Belt.
